Clara was chilling at home editing her photos in the afternoon when we visited her place. She welcomed us with sizzling water with lemons, what a refreshing delight in the hot afternoon.
Clara is a talented wedding photographer and the founder of The Perfect Statement. She has been a crucial part of our Lovemère campaigns and production team, dedicated to creating a comfortable environment for mothers in front of the camera.
At 31 weeks pregnant, Clara brings a new perspective to her work and it's fascinating to see how her style and approach to photography have evolved.
We couldn't wait to hear her thoughts and experiences as she embarks on this exciting new chapter in her life.
1. Oh, what a journey it's been so far! Can you tell us about how you found out you were pregnant?
I found out I was pregnant when I missed my period by just two days. As a wedding photographer, I'm always careful on the job and make sure to not drink.
2. Do you have any cravings?
I don't have a strict diet, but I try to avoid raw foods. As for cravings, I haven't had any super specific ones, but watching food bloggers can sometimes make me want certain foods.

3. What's been the biggest surprise of pregnancy for you?
The support from the mum community has been amazing! When I found out I was pregnant, so many friends and acquaintances offered congratulations and helpful tips and resources.
4. What kind of self-care rituals or habits have you been doing to help you through pregnancy?
I used to be a total morning person and jump out of bed, but now I gotta take it slow. I also used to love jumping into my bed to prepare for sleep, but my husband made me stop after 8 weeks because he was worried about the baby.
I try to get prenatal massages twice a month as a self-care treat.

5. Any plans for the birth?
I'm a go-with-the-flow kind of person, so I don't have a birth plan. But I've been preparing by watching videos and learning about motherhood.
6. Have you had the chance to photograph any other pregnant women or mothers when you are pregnant?
I have! When I shared the news of my pregnancy with my past maternity photography clients, they were so excited and gave me tons of tips and tricks to make my pregnancy journey easier.

7. Has pregnancy affected your photography style or approach at all?
I used to do a lot of low angle squats for photos, but now I can't do as much squatting, so I have to get creative and find other ways to get different angles.
I also can't wake up as early as I used to because I feel short of breath in the morning. And I've stopped shooting during my third trimester.
8. How do you plan on balancing your photography business with a new baby?
It's definitely a concern, but I've talked to other pregnant wedding photographers in Singapore and they've shared their experiences and tips.
For example, when they work long hours, they can't store breast milk, they pump and dump so their breasts don't get too sore.
It's so helpful to learn from others and not feel alone.
9. Any advice you have for fellow mums?
Try to stay as stress-free and happy as possible, even when you are trying for a baby. And don't forget to prioritize self-care.
As a photographer, I have found that maintaining a healthy work-life balance is important during this time, allowing me to fully embrace motherhood while still pursuing my passion for photography.
Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. It's about finding what works for you and your growing family.
